Police said on Feb. 15, 2016, that officers were conducting air and ground searches, going door to door and following credible leads. The department also said Dawkins had been without access to his medications for more than a week and that officers were concerned for his welfare.2

The search continued into May. The Dothan Eagle reported that multiple agencies and volunteers searched around the shore of Lake Eufaula on May 7, 2016. No trace of Dawkins was found, and specialized dogs did not alert in the searched areas, according to the newspaper.3

The reward changed during the early search.
